Natchitoches Police win several honors at the third annual KSLA SWEPCO First Responders Awards Event
On September 17, 2026, several members of the Natchitoches Police Department were invited to Shreveport to participate in the third annual KSLA SWEPCO First Responders Awards Event. This event honors exceptional first responders in the Ark-La-Tex region.
The following members of the Natchitoches Police Department were honored at the event:
• Chief Nikeo Collins was presented with the Police Chief of the Year Award • Sergeant John Greely was presented with the Public Information Officer of the Year Award • Detective Charles Cassels was a finalist for Police Officer of the Year
During the presentation for the Police Chief of the Year, it was noted that Chief Nikeo Collins has fostered a culture centered on professionalism, accountability, innovation and officer safety. He understands that a modern police department requires continual investment in both its people and its technology. His leadership has resulted in improved resources, better training, enhanced investigative capabilities and stronger support for the officers who serve the community every day.
Sergeant John Greely was recognized as KSLA’s Public Information Officer of the Year for his leadership, communication skills, commitment to transparency and extensive service to both his department and the community.
